Brenna & Nathan picked such great outfits for their engagement session, I thought it would be good inspiration for anyone wondering what to wear to their own session!
In the first set, their sage green outfits complimented the natural surroundings of the sand dunes so nicely. I liked that they went for a monochramtic look for this one. Brenna’s light and flowy dress caught the light and breeze so nicely! Brenna’s dress is from Asos.
The second set was their more “casual” pick. The contrast between the black and white was very visually appealing, yet they still stuck to the neutral colors that matches any background! Brenna’s sweater was a sentimental vintage fine. I loved the texture of the cable knit that they both wore!
The third outfit change was their most “formal” and again had a monochromatic theme. The navy blue really popped against the very netural background of the sand and sky. I like that Nathan chose khaki pants with his navy jacket to break it up a little! Brenna’s dress here is also from Asos.
Other tips on what to wear!
• It’s best to stick to 2-3 outfits. Choose one that is more casual and one that is a little more dressed up. If you’re dying to bring more, I won’t stop you, but keep in mind changing too much can take away from shooting time!
• For the casual option I reccommend a cute top or sweater and jeans, and the dressed up option can be a flowy dress (picture your dress blowing softly in the wind, YES) or something you feel super cute and confident in!
• Neutral colors are always great with any setting, but wear what makes you feel good. I suggest you stay away from super saturated colors, patterns, or logos.
• Make sure to wear something that is comfortable to move in, because during your session i’ll be directing you into all kinds of movement (movement is key for natural looking photos!).
• Some of my favorite places to shop for engagement session outfits are: Reformation, Shop Doen, Mara Hoffman, Asos, Madewell, Anthropologie, Other Stories, Nordstrom, Free People, Lulus, or Revolve.
• GUYS! Don’t worry I didn’t forget about you. Nice jeans or pants with a button down shirt in a neutral color is never a bad idea! Look at what your lady is wearing and dress to compliment her.
